Our fuse boxes will provide you with the best protection and safety possible for your family, tenants or your business. We will upgrade your consumer unit to a current regulation box, designed to have all of the appropriate safety devices. Our installations come with a one year manufacturers warranty and a five year certification included in the price.

Why Should You Replace Your Old Fuse Box?

There are a ton of properties across London that had their fuse boxes installed decades ago, during a time when households used far less electrical devices, so these fuse boxes are now outdated and can’t handle the electrical strain of today’s modern living standards.

Old systems with outdated wiring can be a potential hazard and can cause serious electrical damage, so it’s always a good idea to keep your fuse boxes checked and up to date.

Updating your old systems give you:

  • A system that will instantly cut power in the case of an electrical shock or fault.
  • Provide comprehensive circuit protection for safety.
  • Protection again power surges and lightning strikes that could cause damage to your appliances.

Updating your old fuse boxes doesn’t just ensure safety, but also keeps you in line with the legal standards for all electrical installations in the UK.

What Happens During Your Fuse Box Replacement?

When you choose us for the job, we’ll make sure everything is safe, tidy and compliant:

  • Initial safety check – we will first check your current system to identify and issues before we start working.
  • Isolating power – we’ll make sure your power supply is turned off before installing the new system.
  • We’ll remove the old fuse box – we’ll safely disconnect the old one and remove it.
  • Installing the new unit – we’ll go ahead and install the new fuse box with RCD, RCBO and SPD protection.
  • Testing the circuit – all installations will then be tested.
  • Certification – when we’ve finished installing and testing, we will issue a full Electrical Installation Certificate for you to keep for your records.

Once we’re done, we’ll tidy up and leave you with a safe and compliant system with everything functioning properly.

What Are the Benefits of Upgrading Your Fuse Box?

Updating an old fuse box is an investment in your property’s future and safety, as it can keep all your appliances safe from damage, as well as being a legal formality in some cases.

A modern unit can provide:

  • Improved electrical safety with the latest technology for circuit protection.
  • A reduced risk of fault or shock should anything go wrong.
  • Keeping your insurance policies valid in case of any potential damage.
  • A much easier way to identify faults in the future.
  • Peace of mind knowing your premises and electrical appliances are safe and secure.

Future-proofing Your Electrical System

Every five years, it’s a good idea to have your electrical systems inspected with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), especially if you’re a landlord or property owner.

Regular testing can help keep your circuits safe by testing for potential wear and damages that could affect your appliances. And that’s where we come in.

If your lighting trip frequently, fuses blow without any warning, and there is visible wear and tear, then we recommend you call us in. Our qualified electricians can help you understand what the issue is and walk you through your options. We give free, no obligation estimates, usually on the same day as inspection.

Understanding Your Electrical Load

Many homes have old fuse boxes that were originally designed to carry less electrical power throughout the premises.

With the addition of electrical showers, car chargers, and many smart home features, old fuse boxes are under way more pressure than ever before. When you have a modern consumer unit, the updated system will distribute power across your home more efficiently and safely. Our engineers will always check the load to make sure it isn’t under any strain from your appliances.

What’s the Difference Between a Fuse Box and a Consumer Unit?

The traditional fuse box has now been replaced by a consumer unit which can handle a much heavier flow of electricity. With a traditional fuse box, wires would typically melt away when there was a fault, whereas the consumer unit will use circuit breakers that can be reset with a simple switch.

I was really impressed with the team at Efficient Home Energy. Having had a number of negative experiences with British Gas (one of which included them damaging our boiler!) and having to wait 3+ months for another service appointment I decided to give Efficient Home a go. I’m so glad I did! Not only was I able to book an engineer to visit 2 days later, but Huseyin was incredibly professional and efficient. Having felt very stressed during our last British Gas appointments, Huseyin was such a calm presence and able to complete our survey very quickly. We have small children at home and getting someone to visit quickly to check for safety was very important, but more than that you want to feel reassured with the person doing those checks! I will definitely work with the team again.

I reached out to request both an EICR and a Gas Safety Certificate, and was so pleased to receive both reports within 24 hours. The efficiency was incredible, and the service was not only fast but also exceptionally polite and professional. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with them. Highly recommended!
